Expressions of Literalchemy (1)

On tumblr, I posted a lot of things to a personal tag, “Literalchemy.” It was a tag I used for thoughts about writing. For privacy reasons, and because a lot of fucked up people on tumblr hate me for no reason, I decided to remove my tumblr from search engine indexing. Because tumblr is a bad website this has also prevented me from finding a lot of good shit I posted about writing on this tag. So I have turned indexing briefly back on, so I could find some Literalchemy posts, and cross-post them here. I will be calling these particular crossposts “Expressions of Literalchemy” because I am obsessed with personal dramatics.

Anyway, here we go, I hope these prove useful or interesting to you.

Internet Data Cap Survival Guide

Moving to a new place out in the sticks I was dismayed to find that not even Windstream, the internet provider that was set up EXCLUSIVELY to provide internet to the sticks, would set up internet at my shithole that time forgot new house. NO ISP IN THE AREA wants to be in this goddamn place. I’ve even had satellite providers go “holy shit no” and I’m at my wit’s end (Dish Network Satellite Service MIGHT, they tell me, install here, MAYBE, they’re gonna CHECK IT OUT and get back to me).

So I had to bite the bullet and get a hella expensive LTE data plan from AT&T. My iPhone IS my modem now. I can only get on the internet through putting it in personal hot-spot mode. I’m actually really pleased with the speed (it’s faster and more stable than my unlimited home internet back at my old house) but the data cap fucking blows. I’ve been living with it for over a month now, and in the interim I’ve done a lot of stuff to save data. I figure I might as well share this wealth of lore.

Solstice War Watch 8/1/2015

Greetings comrades! Another amazing chapter of The Solstice War went live yesterday. This time we’re up to Chapter 42, Rumbling Hearts. It features some cool historical references and a good bit of romance. You might not think it, but I’m actually a huge romantic. I’ve read so much melodramatic yuri manga, and I used to be a downright sucker for even the worst of dumb JRPG romance plots. Of course, I’m trying to make my romance stuff better than that but we’ll see if I actually succeed.

Anyway! Read Chapter 42, and if you enjoy the story, throw me a vote on Top Web Fiction! You can expect the next piece of Solstice War between the 7th and 10th somewhere. Until then, keep your eyes peeled!

Daily Thought: Uncaring Sharing

It occurs to me that it’s actually really rough being retweeted by basically anyone.

Social media content sharing can be helpful if you’re just shilling a product, but I can guarantee you that if you use twitter for any length of time to try to interact with human beings outside of selling them things or garnering personal cachet, it’s almost always going to become an inconvenience to you sooner or later. Getting retweeted by the wrong person (or even by the right person) can practically put your account out of commission for hours, or for days, if not for actually fucking ever.
